The Songhua River Railway Bridge, also known as the Binzhou Line Songhua River Railway Bridge, is colloquially referred to by Harbin residents as the “Old River Bridge”.It was initially constructed in 1900 and was put into service in 1901, making it over a century old. It stands as the first railway bridge over a kilometer long along the Chinese Eastern Railway and marks the first bridge in Harbin that spans the Songhua River.
Lying quietly over the Songhua River, the bridge has witnessed the opening of the Chinese Eastern Railway and the glorious history of Harbin becoming a cultural, economic, and trade center in the Far East. Countless trains have once roared across its structure, bringing distant civilization and prosperity while also taking away the hopes and dreams of this city. Today, it serves as a tourist attraction, drawing numerous tourists to take photos and commemorate their visits. Strolling along the bridge with the gentle breeze of the river, visitors can immerse themselves in the blend of history and modernity.
