《走西口》是广泛流行在陕西、山西、内蒙古等地的传统民歌。陕北民歌中的《走西口》以旋律高宕低回、情感缠绵悱恻而独具一格。新编《走西口》汲取了诸家演唱版本之长，富有陕北二人台的风格特色。

Zou Xi Kou (Going through the West Pass), set in a major event of population migration in modern China, is a folk song widely spread in Shaanxi, Shanxi and Inner-Mongolia. In its Shaanxi version, the song is emotionally melodious and stylistically distinctive. The song in this anthology is arranged in the typical style of errentai (a regional song-and-dance duet performance).
